Anambra police arrest two women over missing 16-year-old girl

Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command attached to the Ozubulu Division have arrested two female suspects in connection with the disappearance of a 16-year-old girl, Miss Oluebube Chukwuma, reported missing in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of the state.

The suspects, identified as Uzoma Nwabueze and Precious Monday, were arrested on the evening of January 26, 2026, following technologically driven intelligence gathered by the police.

During interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to their involvement in the disappearance of the minor and disclosed that the victim is currently in Ghana.

In response, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for a discreet and comprehensive investigation. The probe is aimed at unraveling the circumstances surrounding the movement of the minor outside the country and identifying other persons who may be connected to the case.

The Police Command assured the public that further updates would be made available as investigations progress.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on January 27, 2026.
