Nollywood actress and philanthropist Tonto Dikeh has opened up about a lesser-known chapter of her life, revealing that she once planned to become a pastor before stepping away from the path at the age of 19.
The actress made the disclosure during a recent livestream interview, where she spoke candidly about her spiritual journey, faith, and the life experiences that have shaped her.
According to Dikeh, she felt a strong calling to serve God from childhood and remained deeply involved in church activities after completing her secondary education.
Tonto Dikeh disclosed that her commitment to faith began early in life, describing her relationship with God as intense and deeply personal.
“I’ve always had this calling right from when I was a child,” she said.
She explained that her intention to enter full-time ministry was genuine, but circumstances led her to walk away from that path while still very young.
“At 19, I was going to be a pastor — until I ran away,” she added.
Despite abandoning plans for formal ministry, the actress stressed that her connection to God never faded.
Reflecting on the controversies, struggles, and personal challenges she has faced over the years, Dikeh said she believes they were divinely orchestrated to shape her character and purpose.
She described her life journey as anything but ordinary, insisting that every phase served a greater purpose.
“If you watch what has happened in my life, it is not ordinary,” she said.
According to her, God intentionally allowed her to pass through difficult seasons to mould her into the fearless and outspoken woman she is today.
“God called me and needed me to go through all I had to become the firebrand that I am today.”
The actress noted that although she did not become a pastor, faith continues to play a central role in her life, guiding her decisions and personal growth.
She encouraged people who feel they have strayed from their purpose not to lose hope, suggesting that divine calling can manifest in different ways and at different times.
