The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has opened up about his affluent background, making bold comparisons between himself and his political rival, Rotimi Amaechi.
Speaking during a lively interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on July 4, 2025, Wike described their upbringings as worlds apart.
In the conversation with anchor Seun Okinbaloye, Wike revealed that he grew up in comfort and had access to luxury early in life.
He said, “I have a Rolls-Royce; nobody gave it to me. I bought it. I didn’t come from the same background as Amaechi.”
“As a student, I was using a Mercedes Benz.”
“My father was a general manager for many companies.”
