A Nigerian job seeker has shared a troubling experience from a recent Teams interview, sparking debate on social media.
According to the X user, a Nigerian panelist on the interview board made a remark that left him uncomfortable. The panelist reportedly said:
“I hope you’re not one of those Nigerians who attend a one-month bootcamp, fabricate job experience on their CVs, and then underperform once hired. We’ll be verifying all the companies on your CV if you’re successful—are you sure you’re safe?”
The applicant, whose CV is reportedly authentic, expressed disappointment over the statement—especially as it was made in front of non-Nigerian colleagues.
The post has since gone viral, with many Nigerians lashing out at the Nigerian panelist for reinforcing negative stereotypes about Nigerians in a professional setting.
