Two killed as gunmen attack travellers in Taraba

Tragedy struck along the Wukari-Rafinkada road in Taraba State on Sunday when armed assailants ambushed and shot dead two travellers. Among the victims was Mr. Lawal Adamu, the Chairman of Lodiya, alongside an Igbo businessman, who was also killed in the brutal attack.

According to a statement from Ibrahim Dauda Agbu, Senior Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Wukari Local Government Area (LGA) Chairman, another Igbo businessman was left injured in the violent assault. The wounded survivor is currently receiving medical care at the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Wukari.

The Executive Chairman of Wukari LGA and Vice-Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Taraba, Honourable Dauda Agbu Samaila, strongly condemned the attack, calling on security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the area. He expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured businessman a swift recovery.

“The safety of our people is paramount, and we urge the authorities to take immediate action to prevent further violence,” the statement concluded. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
