A lifeless body of a pregnant woman had been found hanging on a cashew tree along Uke/Ideani road, Idemili North Local Government Area (LGA), Anambra state.
The deceased whose identity had not been unmasked, is suspected to had been killed by hoodlums operating along the area which have either murdered or abducted several persons in recent past.
The Anambra state Commissioner for Police, Dr Ikioye Orutugu, who confirmed the incident in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, described the incident as unfortunate and a stark example of “man’s inhumanity to man.
Orutugu further ordered a thorough investigation into the incident to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice, even as he called on stakeholders and community leaders within the Council Area to assist with information to unravel the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
He added, “We have seen the suspected murder of a pregnant lady found hanging on a cashew tree along Uke/Ideani road. To this end, the command calls on members of the public to help identify the deceased, as Police Operatives from Ogidi Police Division have recovered the body and deposited it in the mortuary. suspected murder of a pregnant lady found hanging on a cashew tree along Uke/Ideani road.”
