Many parents were seen at the Ikoyi-Lagos annex office of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) expressing their displeasure over the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) recently released abysmal results.
The upset parents were seen pushing their way into the board’s office, but the security personnel on the ground did their best to stop them from gaining entry into the compound.
One of the protesters, who did not disclose his name, was seen shouting, “How can JAMB give students 143, and 135, can you imagine?”
Recall, on Friday, May 10, JAMB officially announced the results of the 2025 UTME, in which more than 78 percent of candidates scored less than 200 points out of the 400 maximum points obtainable.
According to the statistical analysis of the result as published by JAMB, a total of 78.5 percent, representing over 1.5 million out of the approximately two million candidates that sat the examination, scored below 200.
Not less than 0.63 percent of the candidates, that is 12,414, scored 300 and above. A total of 3.76 percent, which amounts to 73,441 candidates, have 250 to 299 scores, while 17.11 percent of the candidates (334,560) scored 200 to 249.
While only 0.24 percent, which amounts to 4,756 candidates, scored 320 and above, and 0.39 percent, which represents 7,658 candidates, scored 300 to 319.
Meanwhile, JAMB has assured the concerned candidates and parents of its preparedness to review the 2025 UTME results, given the complaints flood its office.
