A video has gone viral online showing a man visibly shocked after discovering that the hotel in Edo State, Benin, he paid ₦50,000 per night for could not provide running water due to a power outage — instead, placing yellow gallons of water in front of each guest’s room.
In the footage, the man is heard expressing disbelief at the situation. “After paying 50K per night, they couldn’t even pump water for us! They said there’s no light, and see what they’re doing — they dropped yellow gallons of water at every door like we’re in the village!” he lamented.
The scene, captured in the hotel corridor, showed neatly lined yellow gallons — one in front of each room. The man’s tone and body language reflected a mix of anger and ridicule over what he considered extremely poor service, especially for the high price.
The clip has since sparked mixed reactions online, with many Nigerians criticizing the hotel’s lack of backup power and water infrastructure, while others pointed fingers at the larger issue of unreliable electricity in the country.
