Suspected herdsmen have killed a 2024 graduate of the University of Calabar, Terhemba Matthias Yogboh, in Naka, Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State.
The incident occurred on May 26, 2025, barely a month after Matthias, who is an only son of his mother, took to Facebook to seek a woman to marry as he doesn’t want to die childless.
“Facebook help me look for a better woman to marry before Fulani kill me, making me die a childless person” he wrote on April 20, 2025.
Friends and former coursemates are currently seeking financial assistance for his mother, who went into a coma and has been admitted to a hospital in Naka, upon hearing that her only son had been killed by marauding herders.Benue activist, Ukan Kurugh, confirmed the incident in a Facebook post on Friday, May 30.“Not long ago, he voiced his deepest fear the threat of Fulani terrorist herdsmen. Tragically, that fear became his reality. They took him from us. A voice silenced. A life cut short. A family shattered. Rest in peace, dear brother. You didn’t deserve this,” he wrote.
