Family tensions have surfaced around the legendary juju musician, King Sunny Ade (KSA), as some of his children express concern over his well-being. Recently, his daughter, Damilola Esther, raised alarms on social media, pleading for answers about their father’s whereabouts. In emotional posts, she accused her step-brother, Dayo, of keeping their father away from the family and mishandling his event bookings.
In her heartfelt cry, Damilola wrote, “Dad told my brother that he wants to go home. Where is he? Where are his phones? He has not been online or picking his calls. Where is he?” She also added, “I want Dayo (manager) apprehended. I want him to provide all the money they have been stealing from him. He has a UK visa, thinking he can run.”
Her concerns stirred worry among fans who have loved and cherished King Sunny Ade for decades. However, Dayo responded in an interview, insisting that their father is fine and still doing what he loves most — performing. According to him, KSA recently graced the stage at a fan’s 60th birthday celebration in Victoria Island, Lagos, and is preparing for another performance in Akure on May 1, 2025.
Dayo explained that he is not King Sunny Ade’s official manager but only stepped in to assist his father, out of love and duty. He said, “This is like paying him back for all the things he has done for me. One of the things he loves the most is going on stage to perform, and that is what he has been doing for the past 59 years.”
Another son, David, also spoke out, reassuring the public that their father is not being mistreated. He confirmed that KSA is healthy, happy, and free to perform as he wishes.
Despite the emotional tension within the family, King Sunny Ade’s upcoming public appearance will hopefully bring relief to fans who are deeply concerned about the music icon they have admired for so long.
