Trump imposed 20% in tariffs in the first weeks of his Presidency and then an additional 34% in April, a move Beijing reacted to by placing a 34% retaliatory tariff
Trump had warned that Beijing will see more tariffs unless China retracts her 34% retaliatory tariffs on US goods
According to the office of the USTR, the U.S. imported $438.9 billion in goods from China last year, up 2.8% from 2023.
White House Press Secretary says 104% additional tariffs went into effect at noon eastern time because China has not removed it’s retaliation. The 104% additional tariff will be collected starting tomorrow April 9th. #trade #Tariffs #POTUS #china
