In a brazen display of disregard for judicial authority, Lagos socialite Mr. Adewale Oladapo (known as “Biggie” has reportedly refused to comply with a court order restraining him from interfering with a disputed four-hectare parcel of land in the upscale Osapa area of Lekki, Lagos State.
Sources close to the situation report that Oladapo has been boasting of having backing from influential politicians who he claims will ensure the court order remains unenforceable against him and his company, Oretol Nigeria Limited.
The interim injunction, granted by Justice E.O. Ashade of the Lagos High Court on March 25, 2025, explicitly prohibits Oladapo, Oretol Nigeria Limited, and anyone acting on their behalf from interfering with the land pending the determination of the substantive case brought by Capital Gardens Limited.
The disputed property, located in Hampton Estate (also known as Eletu Odibo land), is described in Survey Plan No. FAI/3454/A01/2024/LA and has become the center of an escalating legal battle that highlights ongoing issues with land grabbing in Lagos State.
According to court documents, Justice Ashade deemed the restraining order necessary to preserve the subject matter of the litigation and prevent unlawful encroachment. The court also authorized Capital Gardens Limited to publish notices warning potential buyers against dealing with Oladapo or Oretol Nigeria Limited regarding the disputed land.
Despite these clear judicial directives, Oladapo, whose father is a prominent politician in the ruling party, has allegedly continued operations on the property, telling associates that his “friends in high places” will ensure the case is eventually dismissed.
The next hearing is scheduled for June 2, 2025, when the court will review compliance with its orders and provide further directions on the case.
