Police Exhume Body Of Murdered LASU Graduate Amidst Tears

The Lagos State Police Command has exhumed the body of Adedamola Ogunbode, a graduate of Lagos State University (LASU), who was reportedly buried in a shallow grave. This grim discovery came after the arrest of the prime suspect, Olaoluwa Ajisomo.

Ajisomo was apprehended on Monday morning in the Alakuko area. According to Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, the suspect had allegedly cleared the victim’s bank account using Ogunbode’s mobile phone.

Ogunbode, a Political Science Education graduate from LASU, had been missing since January 16, 2025. His suspected murder sparked speculation, especially after reports suggested that a mutilated body matching his description had been found.

The police had previously announced the arrest of three other suspects and confirmed that five more individuals were being sought in connection with the crime. Among those in custody is a pastor, Whepetoji Sunday, who allegedly received N70,000 from Ogunbode’s account. Another suspect, Sheriff Adebayo, a church member, reportedly received N300,000.

Following threats of a statewide protest by the students’ union, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case.

Investigations are still ongoing, and the police have assured the public that all those involved in Ogunbode’s murder will be brought to justice.
