Two arrested for burning Cross River village

The police have arrested two suspects for killing three persons last weekend after burning down Nta village in Ikom LGA of Cross River State.

The suspects accused of leading the arson attack were arrested in Obubra LGA. They were initially detained in Ikom LGA for a few days before they were moved to the state police headquarters, Calabar on Friday, March 15, for further interrogation.

The divisional police officer in Ikom, Teryima Anthony, who confirmed the arrest and detention, said more suspects would be arrested.

It was further gathered that the arson attack was carried out after a communal strife which has been on since 1993 between the people of Ofunokpan in the Mbembe tribe in Obubra LGA and the Nta community in Ikom LGA was reignited.
