Members of the Federal Executive Council on Wednesday observed a minute’s silence to mourn those killed by terrorists in Borno State on Monday. It would be recalled that Boko Haram insurgents who have since taken to attacking soft targets, carried out a raid on certain members of the public who were prevented from entering the Maiduguri metropolis due to the curfew being in effect.
It was also held for the death of former Chief of Naval Staff, the late Vice-Admiral Patrick Koshoni. The naval chief died on January 25, 2020, after a brief illness. Born in Lagos on April 11, 1943, Koshoni joined the navy on June 11, 1962, after his secondary education at St. Finbarr’s College, Akoka, Lagos. That same year he started the naval cadetship training at the National Defence Training Academy in India and was commissioned Sub-Lieutenant on July 13, 1964. Left to mourn him are his wife, Mrs. Margaret Koshoni; children and grandchildren.
Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, presided over the session in the absence of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari ( retd.). who is currently in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for the 33rd Ordinary Session of Presidents and Governments of the African Union.
